Optimization Power Tips

Here’s a few tips to Build your Page Impressions and build your traffic.

Traffic is your aim so try these optimization Power Tips.

Any true internet marketer will tell you this, and this has even more weight if you’re enrolled with the AdSense program. The success or failure of your campaign will greatly depend on how many visitors you’ll be able to get to your web pages.

There are numerous ways by which you can generate traffic for your website. Here are just 9 of them.

1. Off page SEO, refers to techniques you can employ outside of your web pages, after they have gone live. This practice is generally to do with increasing your l.ink popularity. If you have high link popularity you have a high page rank. And with a high page rank comes a better chance of landing on the first page of relevant search engine results.

2. On page SEO Search engine optimization refers to the tactics used to make your web site friendlier to the search engine spiders. With good SEO practices, you will better position yourself higher in the search engines. On page SEO refers to the tactics you can employ on your web pages themselves. This is focused on a selection and use of the right keywords.

3. Forum marketing. Hooking up to online forums relevant to your niche is also a great way to get traffic. With your account, you are allowed a signature box where you can include your website’s URL. This signature box will appear in every post you will make.

4. Article marketing. Submitting articles to key or popular article directories is considered by many as the bees knees of internet marketing strategy. Every article you submit, you include a resource box. This resource box should introduce yourself as the author and will include a link to your website. Articles are picked up by many websites and even print publications, making you reach a wider audience fast. Not only that, it will also work wonders for your link popularity.

5. Blog reguarly. Maintaining a blog and updating it regularly is a great way to add some direct and indirect traffic to your main website. Blogs have their own communities, and because they have excellent and simplified content management systems, they place highly in search engine results. Having your URL appear on the entries will give a boost to your link popularity as well as your page rank.

6. Press releases. Writing a press release and submitting the same to the many press wires online, such as www.prweb.com , is another great strategy to use. Submit a press release announcing the publication of your website or any other campaigns you may start and you will be able to gather traffic from both the Web and the real world!

7. Offline marketing. This strategy is one to ponder on too, and can be one of the most efficient. You can advertise your website in newspapers, magazines, bumper stickers, t-shirts all sorts of merchandise. This will increase awareness for your website brand and result in a lot of interest for your website.

8. Joint Ventures are a much underestimated tactic that you can use to not just bring awareness to your website or blog, but also significantly build your email list.
It’s not as hard as you may think to get started, check out this previous post for more information.

9. Extend your Domain name by adding sub-domains; if you add relevant content to these sub-domains and submit these to the search engines you are extending your reach for your primary domain name. You can see plenty of examples right here on my blog sitemap.

Adsense is Still King

By Bill Masson:

Web-Work At Home

Like everything else in life the more you use Google Adsense, the more you’ll learn from your mistakes. But why wait till then - why not learn and benefit from the mistakes of others now.

Here are the top 5 mistakes almost all Adsense publishers make and how you can avoid them:

Mistake #1 - Not playing by the rules

The first major no-no some Adsense publishers unfortunately make is not following the guidelines set forth by Google. You can read their “Adsense Policies” here:

The most important thing here is not to create “artificial clicks” through any means possible. NEVER - I repeat - NEVER click your own links, never ask your friends or relatives to click the links and never, by any means, encourage your visitors to click the links.

Failing to comply with Google’s terms could result in your Adsense account being suspended, or worse, being permanently BANNED!” So play by the rules and you’ll have longer lasting Adsense profits”

Mistake #2 - Improper placement of ads

When it comes to the “placement” of your ads, there is no ‘universal position’ that is guaranteed to increase your Adsense earnings. However, there are certain places that generally are more profitable than others… See post on Ad Placement >>>
For instance, placing ads to the ‘left’ side of your page is logical, because text is generally written from left to right. This seems to work better because people will finish a sentence and return their eyes to the left position, which means there’s a better chance they’ll spot your ads.
You will also find that you’ll generate more clicks by placing ads at the ‘bottom’ of your content, because as your visitors finish reading your article, there’s a brief moment where they’re looking for something more to do - and your Adsense ads can offer them that something!

Mistake #3 - Choosing bad colour palettes

If you want the biggest revenue impact for your ads, then I recommend optimizing your “color palettes”. A lot of webmasters don’t take the time to do this, but they should. Choosing the right palettes can mean the difference between ads your visitors will notice — and click — and ads they’ll skip right over.
Click here to see what color palettes are the most successful:

Mistake #4 - Not testing what works and making changes as necessary to improve results

As an Adsense publisher, you should be able to answer these two vital questions:

* Where is Adsense earning me the most revenue?
* How can I use this information to earn even more?

By using Adsense “channels”, Google provides you with a precise method of identifying the best ‘ad placement’, ‘colour palettes’, and’ ad formats’ for your sites, so you can make changes as necessary in order to realize your maximum earning potential.

Many publishers have dramatically improved their results and reported increases in revenue by making these simple changes.
If you want to maximize the profits of your Adsense business, I strongly suggest following in their footsteps.

Mistake #5 - Not caring for the goose that lays the golden eggs

Last, but not least, is perhaps the BIGGEST mistake made by the majority of Adsense publishers; NOT building quality websites centered on unique, relevant content!

It doesn’t matter how cool your site is, if your visitors and the search engines don’t like it, you won’t earn any substantial revenue.

Think about it… First you must GET visitors (i.e. please the search engines), then your visitors must want to hang around long enough to potentially click your ads! …And the only way to cater to both, and make SERIOUS money at the same time, is by building quality sites with quality content - not just slapping up a bunch of junk hoping to get a few nibbles.

Follow this recipe for success and you can’t go wrong.

What are the 5 Main Types of Advertising?

Paying people to hold signs is one of the olde...

Today’s Post is By Guest Author Kenneth Koh
Just wanted to share this useful post by my friend Kenneth Koh, anybody who wants to make full use of advertising and is confused about all the options that are available will find this article most enlightening.

5 Main Types of Advertising Techniques Online

Many people are confused by the different types of advertising techniques online. In today’s blog post, my aim is to classify all the techniques into 5 main types. I will also discuss the key to success in each of them.
Ready? Here we go……

1) Content Advertising
The first type of advertising technique is content advertising. It basically uses content to draw visitors’ attention. It is the main type of advertising technique because the entire internet is made up of content (or information).
The following traffic strategies all fall under content advertising technique:
- Submitting articles to article directories
- Posting articles to Squidoo, Hubpages or Blogger
- Posting articles to your own blog or content website
- Press release
- Paid reviews at other people’s website
- Yahoo answers
- Social bookmarking at Digg, Propeller etc
- Post videos in video sites
- Posting comments in forums

In content advertising, you draw traffic from 2 sources. You either get the traffic from the website where the content is posted or from the search engine.
Existing traffic from the website is given. There is nothing much you need to do other than making sure that your content is good and your title is interesting.
The real challenge lies in getting traffic from the search engine. Your aim is to get high ranking in the search engine and direct the traffic from the search engine to your content and then to your website. This is done through careful keyword research and search engine optimization.

2) Link Advertising
This type of advertising technique typically uses a short link with some description to attract the visitors directly to your website.
The following traffic strategies all fall under link advertising technique:
- PPC advertising
- LeadsLeap advertising
- Classified advertising
- Submission to directories
- Link exchange partnership
- Banner advertising (image version of link advertising)
- Craigslist advertising
- Email signature
In link advertising, you draw traffic from just 1 source, that is the existing traffic from the website where your link is posted.
The key in link advertising is your OFFER.
Many advertisers expect people to click on whatever link they post. When no one clicks, they wonder why people are not responding.
Remember, people are NOT AT ALL interested in your ad. They are only interested in how they can benefit. If your ad fails to convey the idea that you have something good for them, they simply won’t click!

3) Viral advertising
This kind of advertising technique is similar to word of mouth advertising in the offline world. The idea is to encourage your existing traffic to bring more traffic to your website.
The following traffic strategies all fall under viral advertising technique:
- Offer your products’ affiliate program, including finding joint venture partners
- Place a “Tell-a-friend” script on your website
- Distribute viral screensaver, software or ebooks
Success in viral advertising depends a lot on your ability to create a buzz in your community. You need to package your product into something that is unique and interesting so that people are interested in spreading the words for you. Viral advertising can hardly work for a “me-too” product.

4) Incentivized advertising
The forth type of advertising technique is incentivized advertising where the traffic is rewarded to visit your website.
The following traffic strategies all fall under incentivized advertising technique:
- Traffic exchange programs
- Auto-surf advertising
- Paid to read advertising
- Safelist advertising
Success in this type of advertising depends mainly on your offer and the way you present it. Most advertisers who fail either do not have a good offer or they fail to deliver the benefit of their offer across to the target audience.

5) Obtrusive advertising
The last type of advertising technique is obtrusive advertising where the traffic is forced to view your ad. The most typical examples are popup and popunder advertising.
The first rule in obtrusive advertising is to avoid untargeted traffic, which happens to be quite common in this kind of advertising. If your ad is shown to a pool of people who are not interested in your offer, you are simply barking up the wrong tree!
If the traffic is targeted, your success in obtrusive advertising depends mainly on your offer and the way you present it, similar to incentivized advertising.

Final note……
As you can see, online advertising is not as complicated as what it seems to be. I hope that by understanding the main types of advertising techniques, you can be better prepare your advertising campaign. All the best!

Drive Traffic to your blog with BlogRush

New Dashboard on Show

Today i logged into my BlogRush account to check out what’s on offer and to see which direction the staff are taking. Some very interesting facts and figures came out of that visit.

Now to be honest I haven’t been with BlogRush for that long and I was a bit sceptical about the
performance, that being said I was impressed with the members area, when you log in to your account you are presented with a new dashboard with a clean layout and look to it; and a wealth of very useful and revealing tools for the user.

The first thing you notice are the Two Graphical boxes with your activity stats over the last 30 days, the first graph shows your actual visits to your blog and highlights when you roll your mouse over the points to show you the exact visitor numbers.
The second graph shows you all your referrals in two different shades, one being referrals from BlogRush widgets on other blogs, and the other showing your own traffic from other sources.

At the moment BlogRush are going through a few changes, all for the good which include better monitoring to provide more traffic to members blogs. One area touched on was the placement of the BlogRush widget; on some blogs the widget might be at the bottom of the blog or in a less visible area thus reducing the effectiveness of the system. At this point there is definitely a decision to be made by blog owners about placement, I suppose you have to weigh up the importance of which elements of your blog are more important to you, but in the end I would venture to place the widget in a more prominent spot after all its sole purpose is to bring traffic to your blog.

What was clear in the opening video update was the message to bloggers that it only takes a
couple of referred bloggers to visit one of your posts and write their own variation to expand on your post; and then link to you through trackback and pingbacks and also comments, this gives you valuable link juice for the search engine. Of course not everybody does this and I can’t stress enough how important this is for bloggers, you just need to get into the habit of doing this!

Another new element is your last 12 blog posts at the bottom of the first page which breaks down the stats in a very user friendly way. For each post there are three columns one for Syndicated which shows the number of times that your posts are shown on other peoples blogs.

In the second column you have the actual number of people who clicked through to view your post. The third column (Buzz) shows how hot or cold your responses are with neat little pictures of buzz meters, based on the category your blog belongs to and the average click rate. How your post is reacting across the network.

Bonus credits are given out to everyone but more so to new users or those bloggers who have low traffic, this helps to keep a nice balance. Overall this helps to build up your credits and places your blog posts on other blogs widgets across the network.

A new companion site called traffic jam.com is on the cards which will be released in the coming month or so. Users will be able to see which posts are the hottest on the network by category. This is another great way to generate traffic from visitors to your blog by utilizing the power of your writing skills kind of like a mini digg site i suppose.  Check out 20 Possible ways to Optimize your blog over at thou shall blog

All in all i rate this service from BlogRush very highly and going by the direction they are taking will improve in leaps and bounds. Remember bloggers use your trackbacks and pingbacks regualary

Fine Tune Your Ad Placement

Make the most out of your SPACE

If you look around and observe the many websites and blogs on the net nowadays there aren’t that many that don’t use advertisements of some kind. Using this resource in the right way can mean the difference between a healthy return and a mediocre one.

Positioning is vital; there are all kinds of advice on this subject and a good point of reference is to place your ad space sensibly and see it through your visitors’ eyes.

Optimisation Tips; Certain locations tend to be more successful than others, so experiment with different areas of your website or blog. All things being equal, ads located above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page. If your visitor is reading an article then at the end of the article they are always looking for some other link “What can I do next?” Precisely-targeted ads can answer that question for them.

For Bloggers

Blend ads into your blog; think about that for a moment! So that your readers will see and click on your ads, blend your ad units into the background of your blog. Choose a bold colour for the ad title to help draw the eye to your ads then make sure that the background and borders of your ads are the same colour as the background of the area where the ad is placed. Many blogging templates especially WordPress have customised ad blocks typically 125*125 in size which are very effective.

Show more options with search and referrals for affiliate programs

Make it easier for your visitor to find more options and to expand their reach with specialised search query boxes. You can place a custom coded iframe within your website that will greatly increase your visitors search experience. Here is an example; also there are advertisers that will provide some excellent search query applications.

Selling advertising spaces!

If you have a mailing list that exceeds 1,000 subscribers and beyond, you can start selling advertising space for say, $15.00 per ad. The more subscribers you have the higher your return, make sure you shop around, there are plenty of choices available. See related post for a list of very useful advertising companies specialising in blogging platforms.

Remember this post is to help you find more ways to optimise your space I am sure you will find many more ways available, so leave a comment and let me know of your own experiences.
