Which kind of Affiliate Marketing suits you?

If you want to get into affiliate marketing today, it’s not hard to do so. But for those of you that want to broaden your horizons and increase your earnings through multiple methods there are many directions that you can take. We are for ever searching for the right kind of affiliate marketing model that produces the best results in terms of profit.

The question is, which type of affiliate marketing are you best suited to? Multiple sources of income are the only way to go in my opinion. It’s better to have several different sources of income coming in, that way if one source dries up then the others will keep you afloat. So let’s take a look at some of the more popular affiliate options open to you.

PPC Pay Per Click

This has to be probably the most popular means of affiliate marketing for small and medium sized websites and the easiest. Effectively the merchant pays you the affiliate for bringing leads to their website even if it means they don’t make a sale. As for cost well that really only comes down to your keyword strategy; But if you do your research then this option can be extremely cost effective. There are those that will tell you that the PPC market is over saturated, but I have to disagree. Sure enough if you are chasing highly competitive keywords then you will pay through the nose. On the other hand if you seek out niche markets and look for cheaper keywords you will make progress. Remember that Google is not the only kid on the block; there are many affiliates that make a very good living from Yahoo or MSN.

PPP Pay Per Performance or CPA Cost Per Action

Essentially with this method you get paid when a potential lead clicks through the ad and buys a product from the merchant. This can also be attributed as a commission which varies from merchant to merchant. It’s important to remember to look for a high value product that will pay out at least 50% on sales. This method of affiliate marketing can be very rewarding especially if you manage to corner keywords that are less in demand.  Generally speaking this method will pay out more than the PPC method.

Pay Per Lead (PPL)

With this type of affiliate marketing, you get paid every time that you refer somebody to fill out a form on the merchants’ site. It does not mean that you have to get a sale; these types of programs can be very effective. Your lead doesn’t have to be a buyer, but is never the less willing to fill out a form in return for a free report or other incentive.

Other affiliate methods can include several depths of payment and will range from a single tier, two tiers or multi tier affiliate marketing. These types of affiliate marketing are based on the different levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are made.  In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid based on the direct sales or traffic he has referred to the merchant.  All the previously mentioned affiliate marketing types like PPC, PPP and PPL all fall under the single-tier classification.

In two-tier affiliate marketing programs, the affiliate is not only paid for the direct traffic or sales that he refers to the merchant’s site, but also on every traffic or sales referred by various other affiliates who joined the affiliate program through his or her recommendation.

Multi-tier affiliate marketing works the same way, although the affiliate gets additional commission for a wider number of affiliates in different tiers in the affiliate network. Also known as MLMs, do treat these with skepticism as they are not always the best choice to take. Thousands of newbie’s get sucked into these slick marketing presentations, so beware.

Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid several times depending on signups and purchases, the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he has referred returns to the site and purchase another product. So in effect it can be a combination of all the above.  Commissions for the type of affiliate marketing is based on either sales percentage or fixed fee basis.

All of these affiliate strategies have their good and bad points, for me I would diversify and mix it up. Which type of affiliate marketing will work best for you?  Do Tell!

You definatly shed alot of light on using affiliate marketing. I really do not think I have came across a resource that was even close to informative as what you have here. Great job keep up the good work.

  • From my experience I would suggest you learn about affiliate marketing & the techniques used by successful affiliate marketers first, before you attempt to make any money. You will save a lot of time & avoid common mistakes made by those new to this business.

Luckily all the information to learn about affiliate marketing is available free. The source listed below has many free ebooks, & master courses on the subject. There are also videos if you prefer learning that way.

The site features a product review of Site Build It which is used by thousands of people to build an online business. They monetize theirs sites with affiliate programs, adsense & other forms of advertising to name a few.

That is what has helped me the most because they have a clear, simple to follow action guide that shows you step by step what to do. You end up with a website that ranks high in the search engines. This is how you will get a steady flow of traffic from the seach engines. And in order to make money with affiliate marketing online, you will need a lot of targeted traffic.

They also teach you how to Presell your traffic before you send them to your affiliate links. This is how successful affiliates have a higher conversion rate. Affiliate marketing is a skill that takes time to learn how to do effectively. But if you are up for it, the information is there for you. Best of Luck…

I have briefly came into contact with surveys and to tell the truth they were a waste of time. For your video to say that there are surveys that pay out between $25 - $75 is news to me. The only ones that i know of use points and gift voucher promos, other companies pay out on average about $3 to $5 per survey. But hey if your making that much money on them then good luck to you.
