Setup your own Twitter Front Page

Since I am Twitter daft I have just recently launched my own Twitter Front Page with the help of the P2 theme from Automatic. The concept of having your own Twitter Front Page can be a valuable marketing platform and I think it gives you more options to branch out. I hope to expand the Twitter blog to include other marketing elements which can be of help to other people. At the moment the P2 theme needs to be custom edited to allow page navigation on the header. Hopefully the folks from Automatic will include more of these elements in future releases. You can of course put a pages widget on the sidebar along with any number of other widgets.

P2 Theme Highlights

P2 is a theme for WordPress that transforms a mild-mannered blog into a super-blog with features like inline comments on the homepage, a posting form right on the homepage, inline editing of posts and comments, real-time updates so new posts and comments come in without reloading, and much more. Here’s a quick video tour of the best features:

If you are working from home and use Twitter then setting up your own Twitter timeline on a blog can be very appealing. For one thing you won’t have to constantly write new posts, although you can do so if you wish, and unlike your default Twitter profile page you can monetize. Once you have the blog configured and setup you will only need to login now and again for plugin updates. Although I have used the P2 theme for my Twitter timeline I would like to use the Atahaulpa theme in due course. The selling point for the P2 theme is the ability to edit or post from the home page and comment inline, but it is limited in other areas like page navigation.

Twitter Timeline

In order to pull in your Twitter timeline you will need to use a plugin like FeedWordPress which allows you to except comments and pingbacks. This plugin works perfectly with P2 allowing you to comment on the home page, the Atahaulpa theme on the other hand works on the default wp format taking you to the post page to comment. The advantages of the Atahaulpa theme are many including squeeze or product pages without sidebars allowing you to keep the blog on the same URL.

This can be a real asset for your marketing or authority building, don’t you think?

What are your thoughts?

Do you have your own Twitter front page?
